Is there an additional part that attaches to the top of the door panels that then curls over the top of the painted door? I bought my car in pieces so figuring out some aspects of reassembly have been a puzzle.
When looking at Motoring Investment photos it appears that way but I have no pieces that look like they would attach to the door card and accomplish that.
I have the dealers part book and there is no reference to anything like that however I found something at SLS that looks like what I'm looking for . . . assuming I am supposed to have one on each side.
The link is: https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-230-280sl-w113-/72-door/72-a-door/collar-lh-upper-part-of-door-cover-structure-p-134223
SLS lists one for each side - mirror images presumably. If I do need these, I wonder why they seem to be only available at SLS?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on this. Lee

Lee,
Are you looking for the alum panel on to of the door panel?
-
That looks like what I'm looking for. My door card doesn't have that curved piece at the top and I don't have anything like it in all the parts I have. I note that that is the early model door panel with the "hard" pocket. Mine is a 1970 with the soft pocket but that shouldn't matter. Lee

Don’t know either but here is a pick from the inside. The alum panel is riveted to the card board.
-
My replacement card board panels have the holes already in.
Hope that helps.

Looks like Bud's has them

I don’t think that’s the one. The one in the picture looks like the chrome trim piece that attaches to the bigger alum piece.

Not a very good photo but my old panel is just flat, no curved piece at the top. And I don't see an pre-drilled holes for the rivets.
Lorsar, thanks for the Bud's photos but those thin strips are a little different than the curved part I'm lacking. Dirkbalter nailed it and his photo is very clear. Actually, if you look at the furthest right Bud's photo, it actually shows the curvature at the top of door.
Only question now is where to get the curved aluminum parts (hopefully from a US seller).
Dirk - where did you buy the door cards from?
-
Here's another Bud's photo from same group Lorsar's photo came from. Since my panel is flat and stops short of the top of the door, part of the door's painted surface at the top would show without the curved section I am missing. Lee

Dirk - where did you buy the door cards from?
Bought my interior including the panels from GAT
https://www.germanautotops.com/
I think you will need the alum panel to secure your door panel to the door itself. The smaller trim piece is attached with clips to the alum part.

Thanks Dirk

Dirk
Can you post a picture of what these smaller clips look like. My door panels can
Back from heritage with the smaller trim
Piece in a separate box with no clips.
Thanks
John.

John,
I believe that's the clip you are asking about.
-
Tha is Dirk. I don’t think I got those back with my interior but I will check.
-
John,
You will need 7 per side.
-
Thanks Dirk. I just orders 6 per side but should be OK. Unlike Buds, authentic classics ships the same day you order so it’s too late to add 2
More.
-
John,
I may have a couple of extra clips. I will check this weekend and hoot you a PM.
