Secret switch
« on: December 14, 2014, 09:17:54 »
Hi,

I have a small white button (on a sliver plate) attached underneath dashboard (drivers side). My car is RHD. Clearly the switch is not factory standard and has been added but I have no idea what it does. I have pressed it with the car off, with ignition on and with the engine running and but nothing seems to happen.

Has anyone seen something similar - thought I would ask before I traced the electrical cable?

cheers

I have a similar switch on my 230sl under the dash on the left hand side of the LHD steering wheel.  It is a momentary switch that activates the CSV for easier hot starts.  Check to see if you have an extra wire going to and from the solenoid on the CSV.

Best,
g

I have a mysterious red toggle switch under my dash. Could be the same? Is the CSV-warmer switch shown on the canonical wiring diagram?

Thanks for the feedback.

There does not seem to be an extra wire to/from the solenoid - will examine under dash further tomorrow.
