Drive Shaft install

When coupling up the drive shaft to transmission I installed the rubber seal ring onto the transmission shaft as it shows on the detail breakdown before installing the centering cross pitch circle, but when I do that, I'm sitting to far back from being able to reach the joint disc with the drive shaft. My question is, should I place the rubber ring/bushing inside the centering cross pitch then finish the install? Sorry forgot to add the detailed breakdown. Item 294 and 186 is what I'm referring to.

Yes the rubber ring sits on the transmission shaft. There is a grease zerk at the end of the driveshaft for lubricating the cenerering bushing. The rubber ring helps keep grease from escaping onto the rubber flex disc. It should compress enough to allow you to start all the b
olts.

I agree, but when the rubber bushing is butted up against the transmission and then I install the joint ring and then followed by the centering cross pitch circle I will have about an inch space between the joint ring and centering cross pitch. But to close the gap I will have to install the bushing inside of the centering cross pitch then everything looks good. I'm thinking that the detailed breakdown isn't correct which in my aviation maintenance background I will see the words that the breakdown may not be correct.

Did what you advised me to do, and it worked perfectly I was convinced that the detail breakdown was wrong, but it wasn't. Thank you for your advice very much appreciated.
