Post by: gerster on March 06, 2014, 19:37:37
Hello guys (girls?), I have started my own website with all Mercedes Benz brochures I have collected the last
35 years, so if you are interested look here: http://oudemercedesbrochures.nl/Engels_index.html (http://oudemercedesbrochures.nl/Engels_index.html) ,I've
just started some weeks ago so it will change about every week.
I hope you like it and if you have suggestions please let me know.

Greetings: Ger.

Great collection!
I have the 230SL brochure and a 250SL "supplement". Never did see the 280SL brochure that Gerster has, just brochures that included all the MBs. Also have full brochures on the 600, 300SE coupe/conv, 250SE coupe/conv, and other misc stuff.

I will place more English and German brochures in the future, I first intended to make my Site only in Dutch
but I've noticed that there are a lot of viewers from all over the world so I will place more English or American
brochures in the future.

Very nice indeed. We have an article pending for Pagoda World showing a number of the brochures related to the 113. The Faszination book also has a nice reference in the back with the 113 brochures.

Ger, You are the man!!! Much appreciated :)

I scanned the one I've purchased, it has only four (4) pages (Produced by Daimler Benz Stuttgart Germany ~ it has a marking from ALL TIME GREATS GROUP 5 NO 33 on it) I'll be happy to e-mail you the four (4) colored pages it is in English, should you need them. There is no Copyright note on it anywhere so I guess it is okay to include it in your web site, as said should you need it. The heading is Mercedes-Benz 230-280 SL (Details apply to the 1963 230SL, in the text the refer to 30 years old so it must have been published in 1993). Anyone else likes a copy of the four (4) pages drop me a line.

Funny, I started to translate the Dutch into English and German for the 280SL then gave up since Google is not the right tool for it LOL the end result made absolutely no sense and it made me laugh.

Hello Ger,

PM me your e-mail address I like to e-mail you one scan at a time (they are 0.75MB to 2MB and are too large to e-mail together). I don't like to optimize the images since this would reduce the quality.

Gerster,
I think that your fantastic website should be referenced either in our Tech Manual or in a place of this forum that allows exposing it as it deserves. Threads and posts, after some time, get submerged by others of different values. Yours, in my view merits a place of first choice...
Don't stop in your efforts to expand this beautiful collection....  :)

I wholeheartedly agree with the other members comments  - great site.

Just looking at the 1970 280SL English brochure. Is it just my eyes, or does the soft top compartment of the gold car (Side view with the pretty brunette passenger with the flashy smile) appear to be on an odd angle slightly upwards?

Could it be they struggled putting away their ST also?

...mine needs a bit of a push ...which could be because of the leather patches I had glued to the hinges to prevent scuffing on the canvas.

Cheers

Rob

Went to look at the original brochure, and I think it is just the angle of the shot and the bit of shadow on that left edge (behind the driver). The top case lines up with the chrome caps on the B-pillars very nicely.

Great brochures, lots of work to scan all of that, thanks for taking the time and sharing.

It's always interesting to see the colors of the cars they choose for the vintage brochures.

Thanks for posting these brochures. I in fact discovered a subtle interior detail on my W111 that I hadn't known before. Under the dash and in front of the heater control valves, there is a leather covered panel. According to the brochure, the trans hump carpet goes OVER the panel and hides the lower edge. Looks much better now. Thank you!

I would like to express my thanks also for keeping us updated on your ever expanding brochure collection. The fact that you are willing to share your collection in this manner is appreciated more than words can ever express. I just read through your most recent post and got a chuckle when I read:

“Telephone

With a car telephone you can be more independent. You can be reached at all times, even when traveling. Important decisions can be made and passed on to others.

These are just 2 of the many advantages. Further details about car telephone systems are available from every Mercedes-Benz branch or agency.”

I have a Bosch dealers book from around 1966.  It has starters, distributors, alternators, injection pumps, fuel pumps and anything else made by Bosch up to that point. Of course it has all of the part numbers and exploded diagrams which are very useful for assembly. Do you have this book or ones like it?
