On my 250sl automatic, at rest positions, the brake pedal is about 2 inches higher than the accelerator pedal.
Doesn’t seem right as to get to the brake pedal you have to lift the foot by 2” to get to the brakes from the accelerator pedal.
Just checking if that it is how it should be.
Please help to clarify this for me

Thats how it is on most vehicles nowadays including Pagodas

You may want to check whether the thick plastic grommet, that is the stop to the brake pedal and sits on top of the brake light switch, is still in place. On my car it was missing when I bought it which resulted in both a 'metallic clank' every time I took my foot off the pedal, as well as the pedal sitting a bit higher at rest.

I also had to fit this buffer, the old one fell on my feet....
PN A 113 292 00 41 but NLA at Mercedes, system says....
Brake pedal height is adjustable. You have a nut and washers there. This is mainly in relation to the stop light switch, so that it lits up as you touch the pedal, not when you strongly press it only.

Thanks guys. Roughly what should be the height difference between the pedals.

Thanks for the replies.
Could one of you please measure up the height difference between the brake and accelerator.
Mine is about 2 inches. The boot at the light switch is present. The free play is minimum about 1/4 of an inch.

Just to let you know know that I managed to decrease the level difference between the accelerator and the brake pedals.
I moved the accelerator pedal higher by adjusting the lever in the engine bay.
