In need of full restoration
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:40:53 »
This has to be my favorite all time motor coming out of the esteemed Beverly Hills Car Club... for all the wrong reasons.  A steal at 19,500 USD.  The caption 'In need of full restoration' had me in a state of shock after reviewing the photos.  Is this car actually restorable within reason.  This one surely takes the cake.

In particular I love the view from rear of the car.  Shows off the lines of the 190 beautifully don't you think.

Anyone have any thought on which parts would be salvageable from this?

I scanned through the shots on the Beverly Hills link. Maybe the doors and the gear shift lever? I stand in awe once again of what people will claim as restorable.

Not too much different than a 230SL I went to see nearby last year...owned by an older woman, a bit eccentric, whose father had owned it. She was adamant about how much it was worth (way beyond any reality) but the reality was that it was, due to its extensive deterioration, nearly unrestorable. Further, it was NOT MOVABLE, and sadly, she lived up a narrow, winding 2-track dirt driveway and had someone with a lot of money and little brains actually bought the thing, I'd have no idea how they would even get the darn thing onto a flat bed...as no flatbed could venture to the car!

Aside from the aluminum panels, in a few years her heirs will just sweep away a pile or rust-dust.

The allure of that 3-point star...
