Beautiful car.....Too bad Donnie never enjoyed it and lived a rather paranoid existence for all of his years. Great find but a sad story , imo.

and who ever buys it for insane money loses value every time they drive it.  It is more like art you hang on the wall - no thanks

How about this car .... and the man :)

This man owned & drove the same car for 82 YEARS.

Can you imagine even having the same car for 82 years?

Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA ) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.

He drove it up until his death last year ... at the age of 102!!!

He was the oldest living owner of a car that was purchased new.

Just thought you'd like to see it.

It was donated to a Springfield museum after his death.

It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years). That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month)...

1,070,000 that's miles not kilometres!!

That's British engineering of a bygone era. I don't think they make them like this any more.

And this car is a "Springfield" Rolls. From 1923 to 1933 Rolls had been so popular in the US with the rich and famous that they set up an assembly operation in Springfield, MA. This car was produced there. It the start, they were RHD as RR didn't feel that US buyers would buy a LHD car thinking was not true to the pedigree.

The "Museum of Springfield History" is pretty interesting as Springfield was also where the first US production car was built (Duryea Brothers, 13 cars in 1896), the home of Indian Motocycles, American Bosch, Friendly Ice Cream, Absorbine Jr, Milton-Bradley, Gilbert & Barker ("Gilbarco" Gas pumps), the Springfield rifle and Smith & Wesson and of course is the birthplace of basketball. (Don't forget its the hometown of Dr Suess!).  Mr. Swift's car is on display and looks like it spent its life in a time capsule. Interestingly, Mr. Swift actually donated the car and $1M to start the museum in 2005, two months before he died.
