How do you remove the interior window handles on a 280SL ?

If you pop off the plastic insert, the rest will become obvious. I know of two ways they are attached: either a screw or else a spline without a screw. Again, you will see this.

I dug up this which might help a little: (I had to adapt a crank to match my other one on my 230SL)...

Notice the elongated hole in the pad of the 280 handle.
The shaft has a groove into which the narrow bit engages to hold it in place.
Push the pad down so that it disengages from the groove to the larger diameter hole.
This allows you to pull the handle away from the shaft.
