Speedometer Back Cover
« on: May 27, 2013, 21:43:45 »
Looking at the photos in the tech manual, it appears that there should be a white cover of something like plastic on the rear of my speedometer.  I removed my speedo today to help with my dash recovering and found that whatever had formed the rear cover of my speedo had long since disintegrated.  Has anyone else run into this?  Is there a source for this cover?  It appears to be held in place by a wire ring at the front.
Thanks
Gerry

Hi Gerry

Mine were missing as well, lost somewhere in the abyss of a 10 year restoration !
Buds Benz have these available - http://www.budsbenz.com/catalog/200/T%20-%20Dash

OEM (p/n 0005420556) is no longer available so I wonder what the rubber cover from Bud's looks like. Who has bought one?
Bud's number:  T234-117 $145.00 Speedo & Tach Rubber backing, sold individually.

I called Buds today to order some other miscellany and asked if the price was accurate on the backings.  They said it was.  I'll be finding some other way to cover mine as I just can't feel good about paying $290 for these things.  Anyone out there with a good suggestion?

Wow, they were "only" $98 each when I last looked several weeks ago.

Attached is a pic (from their website) for reference
