Speedometer/Km
« on: August 23, 2012, 18:57:38 »
Help please.  I am looking for a km speedometer for my 1967 250SL ( European model / ZF - 5 speed). Previous owner removed and disassembled original.  In trying to reinstall, seems like parts are missing.  Absent finding a new one, open to recommendations on who does the best rebuilding. thanks.

Hi!
North Hollywood speedometer or Palo Alto Speedometer are probably the best places for that.

I sure hope so.  Still required to drive on the right ( your wrong) side of the road and obey the mph speed limits.  Might be in for a surprise from the State Troopers, though.

I drove a RHD car whilst I lived there for three years, so a kPH speedo is the least of the problem.

It really confused the local law enforcement guys especially if someone was sitting in the 'drivers seat' reading the paper as I found out one day when we were pulled up and he said that the passenger could not do that as it was too distracting for other drivers!!!! :D :D :D

hello
a photo album and work on counter shows the dashboard

I contracted the restoration of the 2 devices TIC TAC TACOT Malestroit in FranceTICTACTACOT@caramail.com
after one early test winding I needed the hand of my "little fairy" to tighten the knob behind the counter, given the size of the leg support panel, leg disportionnée compared to bear the weight, a steel buckle would have been the case ...
do not pay attention to the wiring behind the car radio, it also has to be redone but the radio Becker Europa Tr works

just for a cheap style conversion, here is an interesting link for a speedo km/h sticker. the counter remains, alas, in miles...

The guy on Ebay is the same guy I bought the glove box rod escutcheon from at the following web site.  He has other stuff than the replacement speedo face.
http://www.pagode-markt.de    His Ebay name is similar to his website address.
I got really good service and at what I thought was a reasonable price.  Shipping for me was quite reasonable.  He must have lots of those speedo faces.  The Ebay price is lots less than his website price.
