I have a 1970 280SL that I inherited from my father.  I have three Becker radio's in a box.  What was the original model for this year and make?

Most likely, a Becker Europa, either monaural or stereo. Another possibility would be the fancier stereo Becker Grand Prix. And, on occasion, you'll even see a Blaupunkt Frankfurt in the dash (from the Robert Bosch camp).

Do you have the data card? It should indicate the make of stereo.

Hi Randy
And welcome to the forum! You should obtain your datacard from Mercedes. Look around in this forum and you'll see how to get it (varies from country to country). This datacard has a code which will tell you the correct radio your car was delivered with (together with a lot of other information such as color, extra gear, etc)
Good luck
