230sl torque specs - steer. knuckle to control arm
« on: September 07, 2003, 10:58:11 »
I own a 1965 230sl and I’m working on the steering knuckle. I have the Mercedes Service Manual – but it does not include the torque specs for the steering knuckle to the upper and lower control arms as well as the spec for the hex nut on the bottom of the king pin. If anyone has these specs I would greatly appreciate it if you could send them to me. Also, if anyone has a diagram of the kingpin assembly - this is also something that is not in my service manual.

Thanks in advance,

Hello Martin. The Technical Data manual (October '66 edition) lists the following torque specs:

"Hex. nut for mounting steering knuckle support on king pin: (M14 x 1.5 thread)= 9 mkp"
"Hex.-hd. screws for mounting of wishbones at front axle beam: (M12 x 1.5 thread) upper=10, lower=13"

I hope these are useful.
