I'm looking to pick up a toolkit for my car. and have been offered one, but am not sure it is correct. It does not have an embossed Mercedes logo, but I am not sure that they came that way from the factory. I will try to attach pictures, any help from owners would be appreciated.

I thought the 111 cars had the same type of kit as the 113, but not really sure about that. The one shown is not complete for a 113. Use the search function, with "Tool kit" and only search the topic line, and not the whole message, and you will get a good overview of the conversations that have been posted.
There is also a reference in the online manual for toolkits.

The tool kit is very much like the W113 cars. The pouch is the same and it should have a printed logo on the outside. Sometimes the logo is obliterated after years of cleaning. However a reproduction may not have the logo at all.
This looks like the correct pouch. It is incomplete. You should be able to pick up some tools since many sets from other models have the same tools.

Thanks Joe and Jonny. I see that the long adjustable water pump pliers are missing, what other tools are you suggesting are missing that are in a complete set?

I am quite certain that, the pictured toolkit is not for a W111 3.5.
All the original w111 3.5 toolkits I have seen are of a simpler version made of grey/greenish fabric,
similar to the red ones made for later cars such as the w123.
They all have two holes to insert the lug wrench, enabling the toolkit to be clipsed to the two holders found on rear panel inside the trunk next to the right taillight.

There is also information on the tool kits in the technical manual.
There are variations, so there is not a definitive "this is the kit!" kind of thing. The long handled pliers are the most obvious item missing. There is also a plastic fuse puller (two styles) a tire mounting tool, and (from the general consensus) four double ended wrenches. But even that has some variability, 17/14 mm or 17/13 mm.

It has always been my understanding that the 3.5 toolkit pouch is the same as that on the 113.

It is my understanding too as a 3.5 Cabrio owner. Larry...I responded to your request on MBCA...please take a look at it.

For a point of reference, here is the bag and tools from my 280SL. No logo on the bag but the slots are there. Also the wheel alignment tool and lug wrench are stored in the spare tire cover.

Thanks so much for replying with pictures, having an original car with pictures of the original toolkit really helps in determining what should be in the roll, and how it was mounted. From the technical manual: "Early 230SL tool kits (like those of the sedans) were mounted with slots in the bag to the back section of the trunk below the trunk lid opening. There was also a holder for the tire alignment tool placed in a similar fashion. Later 1966 and on W113 had their toolkits in the spare tire."
The bag on my 280SE 3.5 will hang below the trunk lid opening on the lug wrench, I assume that the W111 design did not change in 1966 unlike the W113.

I am pretty sure there was a small tool for pulling the fuses in the kit but I have no idea where it is now. It might be in one of my tool boxes but not really sure what I am looking for. If my memory serves me right (and it is often wrong these days, at least according to my wife:-) it was a simple "twezzer" like gadget.

Never saw one of those before. I might be thinking of something I already had left over from my old '65 VW. I think they came with a fuse puller as well but not nearly as "robust" as those you have pictured. Now I can't say for sure my SL's kit had one or not?

I don't believe the fuse pliers were part of the standard kit, they were something you could purchase as extra. There is also a secondary tool kit, and there are pictures in the Technical Manual. The ones with the little balls on the inside of the handles were the earlier style (and I think somewhat prone to breakage).

Link 35 you asked if the W111 changed in 1966 like the W113. My 1969 W111 has the brackets for the lug wrench and tire alignment tools on the rear lower wall of the trunk on the spare tire side. The same as you describe on your 3.5. The wrench goes through the pouch so you can hang the tool kit.
