Oil Filter connection to block 280sl 1970

There are two large connectors for the oil cooler lines from the oil filter to the radiator. There is also a smaller threaded connection at the top of the oil filter connector. What does this smaller connector feed?

Oil Pressure gage in the Instrument cluster.
