Hi all,

Currently trying to identify which distributor my car was born with as I need to properly select curve and timing on my 123 distributor

As per the 123 manual the curve and timing specs differs based on parts no. (50 or 51, makes a difference!)

I am currently having som trouble identifying which Dizzy the car was born with due to what seems to be a french ID plate mounted on the bosch distributor. The parts number is missing the last digit.

Car is a 1966 230 SL originally sold in Paris, France. Also mounted with a French Desmet Radio and yellow headlights.

Can you guys tell if my dizzy is a 50 or 51?

Pics attached and all inputs are welcome  8)

I have a 66 230 and it has a 51 Distributor. (First sold in Germany)
Take a look at the distributor section in our tech manual, the 51 seems to be the most common. No mention of a 50.

As advised, look here: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/Distributor

It is not a French plate. In certain times, in international trade relations, as per conventions in force at that time, French was used for international trade for origin descriptions. This "Imported from Germany" writing on the plate indicated country of origin in international language that French, quite officially, was. You have the same designation on a lot of parts, including Bosch parts, e.g. horns. Replaced with "Made in ...".
