Bud's Benz Labels
« on: September 30, 2014, 15:58:47 »
Did anyone else receive Bud's weekly email with a link to the engine/body labels?  I just about fell out of my chair when I saw the prices.  $120 for a tire instruction hanging tag???

Nothing surprises me when it comes to asking prices. I guess the cost of printing small run and specifically shaped decals, tags and labels is part of the factor here.

This stated, George (a group member) sells these at a fairly reasonable price comparatively...

I purchased my tire change tag from Bob G at about the same price as you mention, flawless quality. Now, if you look in the archives John L (thelews) gave the recipe to make one yourself on the cheap, including high definition scans. The result seems very nice, at a reported cost of 5$.

Many of the labels I found on the market left me wanting, especially the aluminum one in the trunk. Wrong material (mylar vs foil) shade, size, spelling, font....I am making it myself, and it will cost me a couple of hundred, whether I make one or a hundred.
I think the commercial vendors are not putting the "DB Teile Nr xxxxx" because it is Benz's property, some legalese of the sort.
All of this spending on cosmetics hinges on our respective level of mania. It can get pretty crazy, but hey, it's not as bad as a gambling habit!

Quite right Jerome!  :)  But aren't we all gambling that Pagoda prices are only going up and never down?

However concerning label prices, it is shocking to see a price of $19 for a label: http://www.budsbenz.com/system/catalog_part_images/large_images/000/001/440/original/200-aa2-030.jpg?1411679059
that costs Euro 2.50 at the source!  :o
