1967 230SL 5 Speed
« on: July 12, 2013, 15:37:21 »
hi there,
I am new to W113... and I saw this car at a second hand car dealer the other day. I just wanted to know how much should I expect to pay for a '67 230SL 5 speed in white? Is 5 speed rare in 230SL?

thanks.

Very rare, especially if it's a RHD Australian car. It would be a good car to buy if the transmission is an original ZF 5-speed in good condition and the rest of the car checks out ok. Price is difficult to estimate without further information but expect > $50,000.

Well, first of all you must determine what kind of animal you have located there... "Five-speed" is too vague a label. Is it really a factory mounted ZF s5-20 gear box in that car...? Around 1,5% of the later Pagodas came from the M-B factory equipped with this ZF box.

This can be determined best via the cars data card (obtainable, via your dealer, from the archives in Stuttgart). Another way is to put the car on a lift, and read the gear box data plate.

Beware if you find some Ford 5-sp box or other barn modification
