Title: sunvisor collapse
Post by: douglas dees on April 01, 2010, 00:01:21
My sunvisors on my 1969 280 SL have collapsed foam but the mirror and the MBtex is fine. As anyone tried to fill the visor with an insulating foam without blowing up the visor when the foam expands?
Any solutions other than buying new or after market replacements?
thanks

Doug  I have given this some thought as my visors are as you described yours.  I think if some type of form could be fashioned to keep the right thickness and shape the foam injection might just work.

This was/is a popular subject with the 911 crowd....especially those with Targas. Overall the technique results in a lackluster end product.

If not concerned with 100% accuracy, a good looking, reasonably priced rebuild can be considered: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/1780193-post1.html (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/1780193-post1.html)
