Title: FS: 14 x 5.5 steelie, never mounted, with original tire
Post by: martureo on August 08, 2019, 18:40:01
I grabbed this from someone who was going to hand it over to the crusher. A few years back I sold another similar rim with original tire to a fellow interested in a concours restoration. I have no use for it, but I was pointed to this forum as a place someone might want it.

I'm looking to make myself whole and keep something out of the trash if someone needs/wants it.

$50 + shipping (negotiable). Located in 20882.

I will get the tire removed carefully if all you want is a really clean rim.

5-1/2J x 14 H2

Continential tire, made in Germany. Never been on the road, still has the bluish "wax". All I've done is wipe it down with a rag and water.

This is a W123 rim, not for a Pagoda.
It "would" fit but is not correct for our cars here.

Usually easy to come by.
Given the perfect unused condition - even with the factory original tire, what some folks heavily seeks, I think the price is fair.
Paid the same for an unused 8-hole 7 x 16" alloy wheel for the W124  (420E, 200TD) a while back.
 ;)

Good luck with the sale.

This is an Aluminium wheel. $50 is a bargain.  See https://www.sl113.org/wiki/WheelsTires/Alloys

It's what a lot of Pagoda owners use to reduce unsprung weight.  Of course it's not correct, it's from 1981.  But if you are using full wheel covers it's great.  The tire is unfortunately worthless unless you are restoring a 240D and want an original spare.

marturio, it was very nice of you to bring it here and save it from the crusher. I'm sure you will make someone very happy and re-use is the best form of recycling.

Wheel and tire has been sold to a forum member.

Thank you for all the inquiries.

Is this suitable for a w113?

Depends on what you mean by suitable

if you mean is it original equipment and did it ever come on the W113 and is it correct for a concours car show - the answer is no

if you mean will it fit your car and reduce the unsprung weights of the car in effect enhancing your vehicle's performance because less weight needs to be controlled and therefore, less energy is required as it allows the springs and shock absorbers to be more effective in controlling the suspension's movement and requires less energy to change speed as the vehicle accelerates and brakes - yes
