I bought back my 1961 220Sb. I originally bought it in 1987 and sold it in 2009. The 2 owners from 2009-2021 did not drive it much so I rescued it again. It started but the fuel pump is leaking. The classic center has a new one on the way to me. Should be an easy fix then I can drive it home.

What a wonderful car. Don't let it go again.

The car is referred to as "old yeller" It's value is more sentimental. This is the car that started my obsession with Mercedes. I was 22 when I bought it originally. It runs and drives and never left me stranded. Far from perfect, but who is...

That’s awesome. I just did something very similar. I managed to track down and purchase my late grandfather’s 220 Cabriolet A that he sold back in 2003 before he passed. Same thing here it definitely has sentimental attachment. Brings back memories seeing it again.

Great story and a nice car that is reasonable to keep going.
I recently became aware of the 1966 600 that my Dad and I refurbished in 1973. He kept it after I moved out for ten years and only sold it because the one remaining W100 mechanic in town retired. But then I saw the state of the car and the money needed to make it a driver again and decided against it. But the temptation haunts me. :-[

On the subject of old Mercedes I should have bought I remember Elvis's blue 280SE being up for about 150k USD a few years back. If only I could have afforded it at the time....

The car is at home now. My son and I put the fuel pump on last week and brought it home the next day. It needs a lot of cleaning on the paint. I drove it around a little the day I brought it home. It seems to run ok but I have to change all the fluids. A little tinkering here and there and it will be good enough to drive around town without any major concerns.

All cleaned up and waxed. The rally look is now part of the cars history. I'm going to drive it as is. The cars starts right up and runs well.
