Title: Auxiliary Fuse Box - Left Side
Post by: 230slhouston on January 10, 2022, 01:20:36
Hello everyone,
Need some help on the wiring for the auxiliary fuse box. I am assembling and installing the wiring harness and for the life of me, I cannot identify the wires for this. Before I go to far, I want to be sure about this. 230sl, 1966. If anyone has more pics or can tell me where the wires come from and where they go too.
The best pic I have of the original is attached. i should have taken more pictures  :(.

Thanks
Maistran

I hope I answered my question. After reading a few posts, I looked at the wiring coming form the light switch and see the harness in the attached picture. Is this for the fog lamps?
Thanks
Maistran.

I do not know if what you are showing is for the fog lights, but this accessory fuse box was typically used for additional fog lights, yes.

On my 280 the supply for that fuse box came from under the dash.  I had a lone wire under there I couldn't figure out and finally it hit me.  It goes through the firewall and out to the box.

It looks like, similar with the radio fuse box, the Daimler thinking was to avoid accessory fuse boxes under dash with difficult access, but rather take the wiring through grommets through firewall to the engine bay and have fuseboxes there.
