WTB: Tach Cable Mounting Plate
« on: November 05, 2023, 18:01:30 »
Small Plate/Bracket is attached to the larger "H" Bracket that the loom of ignition wires. This small bracket receives a small clip that anchors the Tach cable in place. I know I could make one made, but I prefer genuine MB first, naturally.  Absent your ability to sell me a spare, can you possibly guide me as to where I might find one? It is one of the last items I am seeking to finish my restoration. Gotta lose the zip tie!  Thanks for taking the time to help me out.  (Part A111  542 05 40 is NLA). See image of engine that has one. (not mine)

Hello, there's mention of this plate/bracket and clip on here

https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=12065.msg82892#msg82892

I'm also missing the bracket, i bought the clip, but couldn't find any suppliers who had the bracket, so i intended to make one, still intending!

Thanks Bob. Looks like the author was a Guest, but he did provide some measurements to fallback on. Still hoping to find that someone has one for me. I have a few Buddies that would let me borrow one of theirs to use as template for a machine shop to make if need be. But then you get into plating one tiny part. Thats tough to find some one who plates one order that small.

Hi J, did you try Bud’s Benz over in Douglasville? I’ve needed little bits and pieces over the years and they’ve gone out of their way to find them for me. They’ve got quite a collection of used hardware such as this plate that you need.
Give them a call or email, tell them what you need and provide the part number. I’m sure they’ve got one in their inventory of parts.

What I tried several times in similar situation: I wrote e-mails to E-bay vendors who I thought were likely to have a part I was looking for. If you spot someone who makes impression of offering parts from parted Pagoda - maybe worth trying.

Charles... Classic example of 'forest for the trees'. I called Buds and they are shipping me the plate along with the clip for $20 plus shipping.  Crazy pricing, but I've found my needle in a haystack thanks to you. Let me know when the winds blow you and your car north of ATL. Cheers!

That's good news, glad you found it with Charles's help

I'm sure there's quite a few members who would be interested in getting hold of this plate
