Rallye des Princesses. As before I am delivery and collection of car while the boss has the fun.
Today’s mild panic was that I forgot to put the warning triangle in the car so had to bike over half of Paris to find one. I could buy a bazillion designer handbags but an obligatory piece of car equipment took me hours! My fault
Anyway… pics

Hopefully they are more successful than Lewis Hamilton

We are so lucky to be able to do this. It seems we’re one of 6 Pagodas.
-
About to start
-
That’s the last I’ll see of the car til Thursday: leaving Place Vendome
They had a long day to Beaune, about 9 hours. Car reported to be running really well :)

Pagoda and petals

If 9 hours was a long day in a pagoda, how long in this 1929 BMW Da1

From Instagram for gratuitous Pagoda shot

Thunderstorms forecast for Megève this afternoon, which is the alpine end of day 2

Great stuff, JamesL. A dream trip repeated.
Glad to hear the car is running well.
So what do you do till thurs ? Go to Roland Garros ?

Ha!
No, I’m at home as we’ve got some home improvements going on and someone has to make the guys coffee.
I’m very jealous and would love to be part of it but also very psyched that it’s their thing. I’m not sure either of us would be having as much fun if I were her navigator ;)
Megeve to Alpe d’Huez today, which in theory isn’t far. Lots of up, down and hairpins

If I am entirely honest, high on the lists of texts I did not want to get this week was this:
-
That's not a message you ever want to receive, particularly when they're in a different country
Good you asked if they were ok before you asked about the car! Hope it's nothing too serious
-
I know, I should get huge credit for asking about them first but I bet they don't appreciate that! ;D
Slow speed scrape down the passenger (left) side, worse on the rear arch and some trim pulled off. They're fine and can continue
-
Like many of us... I've been doing this too long!
This morning they managed to get the softtop stuck in the well. I walked them through how to get it out. Then later in the day, the rear pin wouldn't lock to close the roof so they drove it unlatched until the rain stopped. They noticed at the finish that a screw was missing in the frame near the chrome cover plate at the top of the B post
You'll know the screw: the stubby horizontal flat headed one that links the two parts of the frame when the rear window is vertical!
One quick facetime later, we found the screw and popped it back in. I may need to add a threadlock to that when they get home

Great pictures James and updates ( keep them coming ) I,m sure they are having a blast.
Personally love the Alps and especially Megéve.

Ray, I’m not sure if they’re enjoying it ;)
Alpe D’Huez to Baux les Provence today. 320km that goes close to (or over) Ventoux
-
Looks to me that they're thoroughly cheesed off!
-
Always do a soft-top training/instruction before handing over your car...
-
I did! (not very well, obviously!).
-
Oh yes, looks like they are having an awful time, all very depressing I,m sure :'( 8)

Incident free day today.
Well, for my lot. One team pulled out with a terminal breakdown of a Jag xk140 they’d rented from the organiser at great expense, so not a happy team. And another was bumped into by an oncoming car, ending their rally, in their Ferrari 250GT Lusso. So not a happy insurer.
They didn’t go up Ventoux. Tomorrow to Nice, and I’d guess over some of the roads from our European Event in 2018.

Thanks for sharing the blow by blow —
Reading this makes me miss France!

And... we're back. 1900 miles all in, over a 9 day period. The car ran like a top. I did 360 miles from Nice to Beaune yesterday and had a very early start to a) break the back of the remaining 420 miles before it got too warm and b) have some fun on the country roads between Beaune and Troyes while devoid of traffic. Some fabulous podcasts playing most of the way back.

Great final pic, into the sunset. What an experience for her and her friend! You're a good man.

Rodd,
That's a sunrise!

Even better!
