Title: 230SL Cooling upgrade Part Numbers
Post by: YEOH250SL on March 26, 2024, 05:52:57
Hello,

Does anybody know the individual part numbers for all the items in this package offered by Bud's?

https://www.budsbenz.com/catalog/230-250-280-sl/z-air-conditioning/Z830-003E

Thanks.

Hi,
here are details, some are already discussed very often, e.g. https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=25187.0 .

- Fan shroud: 1135050555 replaced by 1135050655
Bud's remake doesn't look very good. In my opinion even an aligned W108/W109 plastic shroud (1085050255, 1095050855) looks better.

- 9-blade fan:
For cars with air contdition (US) originally an 8-blade fan was used (A1082050206, A1082050506). Thes 9-blade fans are still availabe for small money (A1102000323).
The more blades the louder.

- Visco clutch: A0002000422
There are many cheap reproductions available.

- Water pump: A1102001720
There are many cheap reproductions available.

- A/C pulley: A1292050410
Only necessary with A/C.

In my opinion, it's grossly overpriced.

WRe,

Your knowledge is very much appreciated. I agree that Bud's charging an arm and a leg for the set. Much cheaper to buy individual parts from your favorite parts shop. Once again, thanks for the help.

There 2 versions of the water pump. The long one and the short one. Are they interchangeable?

Yes, they are. The short one requires a spacer. IMO the long one is better unless you have the spacer and corresponding hardware.
