300 SEL on the road
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:11:03 »
Finally got our barn find W109 300 SEL 3.5 road registered, all it needs now is a good tune and a couple of good fast hills to blow 13 years of cobwebs out of her tubes

I had one of those.  What a beautiful piece of luxury that was.  Shouldn't have sold it for the $3K I got for it.

The new and the 40 year old.
Parked our dark blue 300SEL at Noosa Beach the other morning, this brand new black E250 was driving by, he stopped and had to park right beside us.
Others might not agree but I think I will stick with the oldie

Took the front and rear bumper bars off to dismantle check for rust [found some under the rubber bump strip] and polish, at same time I removed permanently the stone guards each side of the grill and fitted a pair of period correct driving lights.
Am tempted to mount an AMG badge on the back and swap the 3.5 for a 6.3

Who's Graham Garry? have you been having too many Bourbon & Cokes?

Guards too hard to clean behind, anyone care to make an offer for them?

Having finger problems it's the hot and humid American weather that is getting to me!  Sorry Geoff.

Finally got the bars finished, corrosion treatment, repainted inside and reassembled with stainless steel bolts , just need to wire in the Bosch driving lights
