Title: 230 SL Belts
Post by: Harry on May 31, 2022, 16:54:25
My 1966 230 SL has two v-belts that drive the alternator and the water pump. i.e. the respective pulleys are twin V.  The issue is that the alternator has extremely little pivot room for adjustment.  Maybe 1 inch - maybe.  It is constrained by the metal shroud around the air filter and the rod on the bracket with the nut that is used to actually do the adjustment.  I've had a heck of a time trying to find the right sized belt since it is so constrained.  It currently has the AVX10x1125, and those were a beast to re-install.

Can someone share their experience, and what belts you are using?  Also, is there anyway around this extremely small zone for adjustment?

Thanks,
Harry

I can't believe someone hasn't had this same issue and can share their experience?  Thanks again.

The search is your friend. If you use the search item at the top right, select "entire forum" from the drop down. I used "fan belt" - use the quote marks, as that will limit the search to the phrase - fan belt, and not each instance of "fan" or "belt"

I only scanned the first few and I think there will found the information you are looking for.

Thank you.  I'll try the search with your refinement.
