ceramic ballast resister ohm's

I have a mid 1967 250sl. the tension rod broke my ceramic ballast resister. they make 3 ohm types-------.4---.6---.9 ohm's--My broken one had a silver bracket , but I could have had the wrong one on my car.. My new one from Bud's just came in the mail today. Their mechanic thought it should be a .9ohm. gold bracket. I am just making sure. Can anyone verify the correct one for my vehicle?   Would it cause any harm using a different one?

yes pretty sure that's the one if you have the standard black coil

I do have the standard black coil-Does anyone know the function of the ceramic resisrer?

It protects the coil by reducing current flow to the coil at low revs.

If you are using the original black coil then the 0.9 Ohm ballast resistor is correct for your car.

The 0.4 and 0.6 Ohm ballast resistors are used on the transistorized ignition setup of the US spec 280SL's only.
