Title: B pillar door strike interchangeability?

The strikers on the B pillar of my car are worn, not catching the door on the second latch, thus requiring the doors to be slammed shut, something I am not happy about. I have inspected the latch and these are in good condition with no play in them. However the strikers are a little worn with movement in them. The question I have are these the same as similar vintage sedans that I could scavenge parts off?

The door strike changed design from VIN no ..0002980 of 250-production. Went from 3 fixing screws to 4.
SLS have a good info-page (page 72b) illustrating the different versions, and what they can supply.

I found that the strikers from a 220se coupe did fit on my 230sl. I know that the strikers from the 108 and 115 series won't work. A 111 fintail 4 door might be a match, don't know for sure though.

The web site at SLS is good in helping identify the striker. Mine unfortunately is the one that appear to be no longer available. The 3 hole 48mm that uses the latch with two catch points. Off to the wreckers to hope to find a compatible unit off some similar vintage sedan

If you are willing to drill and tap two new holes at 55mm down from the top ones, you should be able to use the strikers illustrated at SLS as replaceemts .

Here is a picture of the 3 hole striker. Its a good part # and Germany is showing availability (130.00Euros  :-*).
Can't remember if they're handed ???
