Dear Will

Many thanks for your kind offer.  I am using as a guide another wiring harness set I have from a similar car:

  • A harness set from w108-4.5
  • A harness set from a w109-300 with  M189 engine

But nevertheless I got one cable branch which is chopped inside the cabin that I have not identified according to wiring diagrams what for it is.

There are two cables, one light green going together with a blue wire.  Those are close to the connector for the AC EVAPORATOR UNIT below the dashboard.  I have no idea what for are they?

It is not related to the FASTEN SEAT belts warning system.

It may be related to the AC system, maybe it feeds a bulb on the ac control panel ,to let the user know when the compressor clutch is engaged…..

If you have any ideas… will be received with joy.

Best regards
Leonardo Peterssen

I have a 1972 300sel 4.5. If I can help in any way with pictures etc. Let me know. Only 2553  of these made from 1971-1972 at a cost of about $14,100 US.

Electrical and Instruments / Re: Turn Signal Relay Buzzing?
« Last post by acbrock on May 07, 2024, 23:08:05 »
ok so set it up with a light on my desk.  As soon as I got the last cable connected the light went on and it was Buzzing, but NOT flashing.  So I am guessing there is an issue with this Relay.

Yea I was clicking the foot button but to be honest it is bright sunny and I am alone so I could not tell if the high beams when on and off.   Yes the Flasher/Blinkers did work until this buzzing showed up 2 days ago.  So looks like this relay only affects the blinking of the Flashers so I am going to see if I can get some other bulb to flash outside the car.

General Discussion / Re: First post: Time to pull the head and rebuild?
« Last post by sjwelna on May 07, 2024, 21:33:00 »
My plan is to pull the head and have a look.  I'm assuming a full rebuild at this point.  If by some miracle the pistons unstick I'll be able to get a better look at the #6 cylinder walls, but I'm assuming that cylinder is in bad shape and may need to be sleeved.  Not my first time pulling a motor apart but it's been a while....I'll post some pics once I have the head off and can get better pictures.

I shall anxiously be waiting for the sequel article for Pagoda World.

Ok thanks. Guess I’ll have to strip it down again and get the head crack tested, as I am still none the wiser.

In a repeat of last year, members of the Pagoda Club and the Mercedes Benz Club, are planning to gather at Manchester-by-the-Sea’s Dunkin Donuts parking lot at 10AM on Sunday July 14th for a pre-tour briefing. Together, we will embark on a journey to explore Cape Anne’s hidden coves, private beaches, and magnificent ocean views. Along the way, we'll catch glimpses of the secluded enclaves of several of the great oceanfront estates of Boston’s North Shore. The tour will follow the scenic Northshore coastal roads from Manchester-by-the-Sea, through Magnolia, passing by Hammond Castle, and then through Gloucester to Rockport, much like the route we enjoyed last year. However, we have also added a few new hidden gems to this year's itinerary.

There will be an option for lunch at Woodman’s of Essex for those who care to partake. 119 Main Street, Essex, MA 01929

We are hoping for beautiful weather, just like we had last year!

Those are some low compression readings. I would be surprised if it would barely start and run.
