W187 Sedan value?
« on: March 11, 2012, 17:45:45 »
Someone approached me with a '51 220 Sedan (W187).  Is there much demand for these, and what's their value?  This one appears to be intact and original, runs, but has badly faded paint, bad chrome, and at least one broken light.  I have no idea if such a thing is worth $500, $5,000, or $50,000.  Anyone know about them, 'cause I sure don't.

I took a look at the Sports Car Market current guide book and the sedans are not listed. They list the coupe and cab with ranges 25K to 100K USD. The only other point of comparison is the 300b, which they list as a range of 20K to 35K. Will be curious to see what others offer.

Peter, Afternoon. in 1951 there were 3,453 cars made, then 9,165 & in 53"  3,322 units,  last year 54" 214, for a total of 16,154
The Hagerty price guide shows only the 1953/1954 model sedans  #4@$13,600 #3@$16,800 #2$23,200 #1$31,200.
Looks pretty cool, a big, "son of a gun".
Good Luck
