Title: Coolant leak at thermo gauge
Post by: VikDasor on April 17, 2024, 10:55:42
Hi All,

I don’t know what this small coolant reservoir is called at engine bay and it just sits behind the mechanical fuel injection pump, it has three connections and the dashboard instrument temperature gauge thermometer connection is leaking coolant.

I tightened it little more but it still leaks.

Am I missing something here, is there suppose to be a aluminium crush washer fitted here as that’s not there at present.

Please see picture below.

Aluminum or copper sealing washer, yes. 14mm if memory serves...

Hi Pawel

I thought that too but nothing is showing in the parts book.
The cold start solenoid has a crush washer next to it but this one doesn’t.

So I am little confused.
I guess there’s no harm if I put one in there.

The crush washer doesn’t fit as the 14mm is too big and 12mm washer is too small.

Sorry then, I should not have mislead you. I was going through it on M127 for the Ponton and I had a fitting 14mm, which I though you also have there (see link), A 127 542 01 84. But Pagoda engine apparently is different. Sorry.

Thanks for that Pawel.
Are all the M127 (230SL) fitted with this fitting from the factory or was this offered after to resolve the coolant leaking issue.
As in my parts book or Epc online this doesn’t exist for my engine.

It does not, that is why I think I gave you wrong information. I saw it in Niemoeller, that is why I thought it was there. But as per EPC, it was not.

Any other solution to this?
