Paint Color Links which one is RIGHT!

My 280sl is painted a deep red/burgundy and will need a repaint in the next year just trying to get it right. Thanks for this website I have inherited my vehicle in 2000 from the original owner my dad (bless his heart) and thanks for the written advice.

The paint codes and photos are on this website in the Tech Manual.  Here is a link. We think they are correct but colors can vary when viewed on a monitor.

The paint code is found on a plate on the inside of the driver side fender top. The code will be three numbers and "G" or an "H" for the manufacturer. There will be two codes on the plate, the first is for the exterior color, the second is the hardtop color.

Here is a typical unrestored Data Plate. The numbers "462" are the paint codes.

I have had good luck with the napa house brand paint

with the link below you can put in the mb code and get the napa code to get some mixed up.

I do not think their site lets you view the color.
