Jump start a 280sl
« on: June 10, 2023, 20:00:19 »
Hi
I stupidly left the lights on on my 280sl.
Does anyone know if it is ok to jump start with the battery in the car? Just not sure with a classic and want to make sure I don’t blow anything

sure, its just like jump starting any other car.  Do make sure you connect the dead 280SL battery to the cables first and then to the good battery last, so that if the dead battery in the pagoda has made any gas, the spark wont cause a problem when you make the final connection.

Thanks Roymil. Got sorted. Websites suggested to ground the negative cable but I found connecting both to the battery was the only way to get it jump started. All good now
