Title: softtop : unidentified rubber part
Post by: pablo_o2 on May 02, 2010, 09:33:24
I ordered these small rubber parts #107 772 00 96 for my softtop but cannot find out where they go. Did some of the members noticed the part and where should i fit it? Can someone also tell me the purpose of these rubbers. Thanks for helping me out,

I don't think they're off a 113 - at least I don't recognise them.

Part number would suggest a 107.

Yes, a 107 part. I looked at one of the small parts books I have for the 107 and it appears that rubber/soft piece fits over one of the bottom bracket for the top. Right at the pivot point for the top. Perhaps as an anti-rattle set up?? The parts book for the 113 shows a part number 113 772 00 96 (listed as a Sleeve - rubber, retaining rail to main bow) that is a different profile but appears to be in the same location as the one for the 107.

Yes indeed, but I ordered it as a W113 part in the partscatologue W113 group 77 verdeck (top) nr 18 and the partsnr started with 107. Sometime they are interchangeable and thus are used for both models I guess.

This part is suppose to go at the base of the frame but it is not correct for the 113 cars.  The original part is no longer available.  The original part number is 113-772-00-96.  I checked with the classic center, the 107 was the part they sent.  It does not work for this.  They have no other part close to it to fit.

I thought that this is what the part may have been for. You're quite right that it won't work; it isn't deep enough. The original part is also screwed into the metal and is considerably thicker.

I believe that they are still available, however. They are about 50 euros each.

(I made mine by sticking layers of rubber together. Didn't cost a thing!)

Here's a photo of the original part:

Thanks for clearing this out, still don't understand why the classic center catalogues this part as an 113 part as it doesn't fit!!!

.../... The original part is no longer available.  The original part number is 113-772-00-96.../...

Hmm, interesting. From German sources I have the No for the original, thick rubber block to
be A113 772 0198 and 0298 (Left/right). But I did indeed not find this No in the 10202 parts book...
It is however available as a spare part from M-B Classic, just as James states, at about 30 Euros.
Quote from M-B Classic online catalogue:
"Designation: SEAL, FOLDING TOP, VLRUB"
"Part number: A1137720198"

Go figure...  ???

That may be the number refered to but they will send the 107 part to you.  I already went through this with the classic center.
