Title: Seat tracks
Post by: dirkbalter on March 14, 2022, 23:04:35
Has anybody successfully disassembled and reassembled the seat tracks? (How?)
Mine are not moving as easy as I would like it. It appears that the track component are crimped and riveted together?
Thank you

Dirk. Mine were also stuck but if you use WD40 or any lubricant it should free up after forcing it back and forth. no need to disassembly.

Hello, My seat slide rails had become hard to move too and when they did slide it wasn't a smooth ride at all.  I chose not to attempt complete disassembly because they really were't broken, just very dirty inside.   I ended up soaking them in a slightly diluted degreaser (purple power) for about a week. I took them out a few times to blast out the inside with high pressure water from every angle.   At the end, all of the old hardened grease and various dirt/grit contaminants were gone and I could slide them by hand easily.   I let them bake out in the hot sun on my driveway until completely dry and then added small amount of wheel bearing grease to the inside of the slides and worked them back and forth until it was distributed and smooth.   I just looked and see I might have added too much grease and so I'll go clean that off.  It shouldn't need much, just enough to coat the ball bearings.   good luck! - Mark

Brake cleaner and patience - that is what I used on mine. Then lubrication with ordinary bearing grease.

Yes. I used all sorts of stuff including sea foam, trans fluid. they will free up like new.
