engine stall
« on: July 26, 2009, 04:21:02 »
My 280 Sl runs fine until I exceed 60 mph. At that point the engine starts to loose power and envetually it stalls. I have to wait for the engine to cool down before it will start agian. I have checked the injectors, fuel pump, fuel gauge and they all seem to be working fine.
I have been told that I sjhould check the relays, but  I do not know which relay has to do with the problem at hand. Can anyone help me?

Hello Vincent,

Sorry to hear about the troublewith your car.  Is it a US version?  What year SL do you have?  Does it have an automatic transmission?  The later US delivered versions had an emissions controls sytem which included relays.  Under certain conditions while decelerating these relays cut off fuel from at the fuel injection pump.

Let us know the answers to these questions and we can go from there.
