Not being at all technical… what cars would we find the engine and gearbox in? And did the monocoque need cutting to make it fit?
Looks good

James, the M116 engine was available from 1969-1991 in various forms on all models that offered an 8-cylinder option. Still, fitting one into a W113 requires some serious skills. I am a big fam of these restomods, since they can prolong the life of a classic by decades and make driving a classic in todays traffic and climate conditions more realistic. I drive my W111 220SE Cab from the UK to Tuscany almost yearly. The heat below the belt makes driving on a sunny day unbearable and to do a 6-8 driving day is next to impossible. I have already added power steering and will add aircon next.

The cross member on the 113 is the same as on the 3.5 108. We used the subframe from a 108 with the mounts etc. was a perfect fit.
The biggest issue was the adapter plate to marry the 7226 box to the 116 engine. Lots of time went into that but the outcome was worth it. there are more pics on facebook look up gullwings
