Fuel Tank Removal
« on: May 09, 2024, 14:33:49 »
Hi All,

Working on a 1967 250SL LHD.

Need to remove the fuel tank and am having trouble getting it out.  Have removed the sender unit, the two hoses, the cover inside the trunk and vent hoses and the nuts on the three studs holding the tank in place per the Technical Manual.  Problem is the tank will not clear the stud nearest the fuel filler neck.  When I try to move it down the filler neck hits the tail panel and there doesn’t seem to be enough clearance to allow the tank to come off that stud.

Am I missing a trick?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks,

Michael

We figured it out.  Needed to loosen the exhaust to get enough movement!  Cam right out
