Title: Don't recognize these side and rear markers
Post by: H. Keith Henry on February 29, 2024, 13:44:09
A question for 230 experts.... What country would this BAT car have been delivered to? I don't recall seeing side and rear markers like these.

Maybe Italian requirement for yellow side markers, granted these are aftermarket lights. And as for the rear center light, there was no requirement in the 60s for this light. The US requirement was in the mid 70s, the gray market R107 had to have them installed. MB started putting them on the cars coming to US market.

I think these are aftermarket fantasy of one of the POs.

After reading all the comments and Q&A about the car, I see these references to the markers:

"I (the seller) asked him (the owner) where his Dad purchased the car in Europe and the seller said that he is not exactly sure. However, if he had to bet, he’d guess Brussels. His father had a few offices in Europe at the time. (and a later clarification by the seller): I was notified that the rear brake light was added after the vehicle came to the United States."

By the way, the vehicle sold this afternoon for $81,500.

Well, that side marker light (turn signal?) looks like something off a Ponton.  And, it's next to a fender-mounted side mirror instead of a door-mounted side mirror, so all kinds of unnecessary changes were made to this car.  It was about 1984 or so that USA required the third brake light.  My mom's 1981 Olds didn't have one, but the 1985 Buick did.  This was also around the time I got my driver's license, so these little things were something I noticed.
