Has anyone attached one of these on their pagoda. I chatted with a chap that restores pagoda and he has recently installed one on a 230

Interested to see if anyone has done this, has a particular brand they would recommend and any info
Thanks

SLS do quite a neat one for about 230 Euro, and thats what I have.
Unobtrusive and works well.

It is a quite typical one, I have a very similar one. It is one of those offered by SLS, I think. It works ok, trouble is that you lose easy access to the trunk behind the seats, but it really helps not have you hairdo ruined by the wind.
Try to see if you can order in upholstery color.
-
Good suggestion, can it stay attached when the hardtop is up or do you just attach when the hardtop is off?
I had assumed that it could fold up to give access to the that area behind the seats
-
It just clips round the soft top "bin",then you shut the bin lid and raise the upper part of the deflector when needed. It is removed in less than a minute.I remove it when I put the hardtop on
-
You do not have to remove it neither for soft top up nor for hard top, you just fold it (at least those I have seen).
But what I have not found is one that you could lift to access the space behind seats. i would buy one if I found one.
-
It looks like the one I have, from Germany. Very easy to use and remove. Pretty effective. Still can’t get my wife in the car.
It does interfere with access to the shelf behind the seats, as Pawel says.

https://www.windschott.de/de/windschotts/mercedes/?p=1. Current price in 149 € plus shipping. Mine works wonderfully. It also prevents stray objects from blowing out the open passenger shelf, which you can still access from behind the seats. It made all the difference between riding alone and having a wife willing to come along.
-
How does it allow access behind seats? It is anchored in a similar way as others to the edge of the soft top compartment, so you cannot lift the level part... You mean through the ca 10cm gap between its front edge and the backrests?
-
You get access when you recline the backrest, its the same in my Pagoda as in my SL55 AMG, I have newer had a need to to lift it up for access.

The MB one fits on the lid of the soft-top compartment, so is out of the way if you open that. The downside is that it clamps either side (near the hardtop handles) and does leave an impression. Which has ruined my chances of ever winning a concours.... ::)
The other downside is it's really pricey
Martijn has a clear perspex one which is from, IIRC, a dutch company
-
Here are the two that i use. One the mesh and one the clear acrylic.
The mesh is slightly larger and works better but more intrusive. First photo from another members car fitted with clear screen.

Do you happen to have any picture of the MB one?

In case I have one for sale
I have no doubt about efficency, but can't stand on the aestetic aspect.
As I bought the car with it I'm ready to sell it.
It's as new...
PM me if interested
100€+ postage fees

I have this one, it is part number 113 860 00 74 (and yes I know there is a piece of chrome trim missing - I have it, just need some new clips).

Wow! The original one?
-
Yes, it is OEM, bought by the original owner in 2001, I bought it from them back in August.
-
Some close ups would be more than welcome, if you were so kind...
Also for Tech Manual perhaps.

Here you are Pawel.
It is a very good fit. Whilst I appreciate the issue with aesthetics, it does make aa difference when at speed.
Jim.

Thank you very much!
Why was it attached to the cover?

Hi Pawel,
That is how it is designed to be attached. Please see some excerpts from the instruction paper.
Cheers,
Jim.

Thank you very much for sharing this!
Yes makes me wonder why it was attached this way...
-
Hi, Pawel,
My wind deflector, which mounts in the same place as this one but just sits on top of the softtop compartment lip and is held down by the softtop lid, stays in place (down) when the softtop lid is opened. As shown in the old SLS catalog recently uploaded by BobH, this attachment allows the deflector to be raised when the softtop lid is opened. That's my guess. ???
