Thank you!

I'll ask if they would be willing to sell me the plastic gear.

Petri

If they are willing to sell the parts but don’t want to deal with mailing to Finland, let me know as I am about 35 miles from them so can pay and pick up for you.

Can hand it off to you at the euro event in Austria or mail to you.

Mailing to Finland is no different than mailing to Canada or any other civilized nation. Just put in the mail and the buyer pays the postage.

I see this comment is coming from Canada, so you obviously have not dealt with the US Post Office in a while.
Besides horrendously high prices from here to anywhere abroad, you also have to fiddle with paperwork to satisfy customs and other export bureaucracy.
I deal a lot in parts with Germany back and forth and sending from here to there is about twice the cost and double the effort than it is from there to here.
I don't blame anybody who does not want to deal with sending anything internationally.

No response from West Valley Instruments yet.
I took the speedometer apart today. Unfortunately, it seems that I'll need more parts for it. The magnet wheel is loose on the shaft and one 14T brass gear is worn out  :'(

Petri,
I would try contacting the local Finnish car clubs, hot rod clubs for some leads.
Maybe there are other makes with VDO instruments that can be a similar match.
Junkyards/Salvage/Breaker yards can also be another source.

Thank you all for the good tips!

I found a local company that promised to take a look. They have been repairing speedos and other gauges for about 50 years and have all kinds of odd VDO parts in stock.

Fingers crossed... :)
