Pagoda SL Group

The International Club for Mercedes
230 SL / 250 SL / 280 SL Roadsters

International

The Pagoda SL Group is international in that it serves all W113 owners and enthusiasts in any part of the world no matter where located. The Club’s international side is seen in the Board of Directors whose members are from six countries and two Continents.

How does the Group’s international face allow it to better serve its members? Perhaps a member in Chicago USA has a problem. Does Bosch in Germany have this electrical part somewhere in its inventory? Would Bosch agree to put the part back into production if there is sufficient demand?

The Club operates through Representatives in various countries to organize local activities and to facilitate communication between members in the Region and with the Board of Directors. The Chicago member contacts the Regional Rep that includes Chicago in his region. The Rep is soon in contact with the Group’s Board member located in Germany and the answer comes back from Germany in due course. This is just one advantage of having international roots. It all comes down to a more efficient way to share knowledge and other resources on a worldwide scale.

Local Regions

The Group’s organization plan of having Regional Representatives is the local face of the Club, allowing members to enjoy the benefits they expect from a local regionally-based club. It also allows rapid communication and access from any member to the highest levels of the Club. Regional Representatives assist in arranging local and regional events. Regions have been designated for Europe; the USA, and Canada. The International Region serves the other parts of the world.

Purpose

The purpose of the Pagoda SL Group is to facilitate the sharing of information and to encourage communication among enthusiasts related to the Mercedes W113 cars. The Club seeks to assist with the care, repair, restoration, collection, and preservation of these classic cars.

Activities and Events

Club members exchange information and technical advice related to the Club’s purpose by visiting the Club website at www.sl113.org. The website has an active message forum, technical database, car registry, links to vendors, suppliers, repair facilities, and other elements as added from time to time.

The Group publishes a magazine, Pagoda World, a newsletter, and is slowly preparing a comprehensive manual related to W113 cars.

In addition to the website, the Club arranges and facilitates in-person events related to W113 Pagoda cars including car shows, technical sessions, track events, and others for W113 cars. These events can range from small local gatherings of a few hours to international events in North America or Europe lasting several days.
