Color of leather on steering wheel center
« on: May 26, 2008, 05:52:47 »
I have installed red leather for the interior of a 230 SL.  Does the center steering wheel leather follow the seat and dash red leather or are these center rings all black?

The steering wheel was originally one color. The padded center should match the steering wheel and not the interior.

Hi Ron - -I recently recovered my 230SL horn pad.

In the photo you can see the original mittleblau M/B Tex on the left. It took a considerable amount of effort to shape and form  the maroon leather into the concave recess, but I got good results. I think it looks great when it matches the seat covers.

I can send you the stamping die if I can find it!.

Hello Larry,
can I get in line too for that tool?
How did you wrap the leather around the perimeter of the foam doughnut?

If you are going for originality, black for a black steering wheel, ivory for an ivory wheel. Sounds like yours should be black.
