Paul Bracq and 1st International Pagoda Rally in Poland
« on: August 23, 2017, 09:37:19 »
Hi everyone.

Last weekend was very important and ceremonial for Pagoda SL Klub Poland.
In Wroclaw (south-western Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic and Germany),
took place the I International Rally W113 Pagoda SL Club Poland.
That was joined with the 7th edition of MotoClassic Wrocław.
Next to the Polish Pagoda our Club invited Pagodas from the Netherlands, Sweden, the Czech Republic
and friends from Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

However, the special guest of our meeting was ... Paul Bracq with his wife Alice!
As a honorary member of our club, he was the chairman of the Jury at the Motoclassic Topacz Rally and Concours d'Elegance.
A few photos below. Nice watch. :D)))

This was a great event indeed!

Marcin,

Who won the Concourse d'Elegance? The "sumo" guys in Datsun?  ;)

Couple of photos from me.

My better half in the background of picture with Mr and Mrs Bracq.

The winner was (unfortunately) not Pagoda owner.  :'(
The Grand Prix won the little P70 and crew in the miners' outfit.
Photo only car. Sorry.

One of us will win next time!

I am not sure how it would be received if a Pagoda won, given the jury composition...

And I have to admit that P70 and miners is a bloody good idea... Despite the simple fact that those days miners would not, most likely, be able to afford P70 even if it would be made available for them by authorities (because they were miners).

Wonder if our colleagues from non-former-eastern-block would understand what we are talking about.  ;)

Maybe because of the composition of Jury Pagoda did not win,
but Pagoda always wins. HEHEHE!

Apropos miners in the eastern bloc.
They always had better than the rest of the population:
better wages, better shops, etc.

Looks like an excellent event. Did Paul Bracq give any originality pointers on your Pagoda's ?

Undersigned and partner Anke just have been returned from the 1. International Pagode Rally near Wroclaw (Breslau). A great event within the Topacz Castle, a bit comparable with Schloss Dyck. The rally event was part of a big classic happening around the castle.
Once more we say many thanks for all the pleasure and happiness we have experienced in this past long weekend. We really have been embraced by the members of the Polish Pagode Club. We met open minded people who not only shared the passion of cars but sharing views, habits, culture…and having fun together!
The unforgettable highlight : having been almost familiar with the great designer of the Pagode, Paul Braque and his fantastic wife Allice.
It was a relaxed event with a perfect, not dominating  organisation (incl. a well-trained security) on the background. …In a pleasant atmosphere we could make friends, we hope seeing them more often in the future. And the “Commander’s Ball” showed how these folks can celebrate a festival in yet the black tie and yet being fascinating free and happy!
We never have been pampered so much for such a reasonable fee. From Thursday evening to Sunday lunch all nights in comfortable rooms in the castle and breakfast, lunch and dinner all days for 2000 zloty, round about € 500! And don’t forget the fun, the passion of the people for Mercedes Benz, and the happiness you long will remember. (Unfortunately Daimler-Benz contributed no cent to this event in a real Mercedes Benz country).
We only can recommend by heart and by mind to put this event into your agenda for 2018! Thus, see you in Wroclaw/ Breslau next year.

Dear Gunter,

Thank you very much for the good words. But you and your wife Anke and other European guests were part of it, so you made it too!  :)

When I had read these words, I felt moved and very happy.
As Artur wrote -  you, your wife and other participants of the rally created this amazing event.

This gathering is becoming a big annual event.  I think I need to look at my events calendar for 2018!!!  ;D ;D

What is its timing in relation to the Euro Tour by the Pagoda Group?

Garry,

it would be great if it was just before or just after, however, I think we are out off luck there. Then Stan mentioned sometime back if I am ever in the area he would organize something. :)

Enjoy the rest of your Holiday!

Rolf-Dieter,

My bucket list is to take the Pagoda for a long drive, firstly ship to LA and drive to the East coast then ship to Uk and drive through out Europe and then maybe back the return way home or pass it on for sale in UK and pay the taxes.!!!  Have priced it and also looked at the legals of doing it. I can have it in USA for 12 months then must take it out of country, same in UK and can drive it around so if there was a PUB then the following year a Euro rally and this rally then it may make sense to do so.  It worked out to be the cost of a business class fare to Uk and back.  Food for thought..  Maybe we can put them both in a container from Canada to UK aNd back :P

Has been on my mind for a year or more.

I also would like to endorse everything that has already been said about the 1st international Pagoda Rally in Poland and more.
This was my first event with my pagoda, it was a fantastic weekend, well organized and we were made very welcome by the Polska Pagoda club, a special thankyou to Artur for keeping us all in order and getting us together when needed. I look forward to seeing the drone the video of us driving through Wroclaw.
However the icing on the cake was to meet Paul Bracq and have him sign the glove box of my pagoda - a great honour.
We look forward to the next event - keep us posted.

Hi Garry,

What a great item to be on your Bucket List, I've got something similar in mind. We do have to talk about this in September at PUB :)

Artur,

Are you guys running another gathering next year 2018 and if so do you know what the timing might be.  I am looking at doing the Pagoda Group Euro run but may be over there for some extended time and hope to get in some other gatherings like yours and the Germans Pagode gathering.  With or with out my car!
