Windscreen wipers can stop out of the windscreen limits
« on: August 29, 2016, 13:37:46 »
Hi guys.  On my 230 SL 1964 the windshield wipers exceed the limits of the windshield. They do this just for 2 or 3 cm (1 inch), but the problem is that sometimes (very often indeed) they stop in the extreme position. I am compelled to open the window and to give a light slap to the wiper arm. It immediatly works again, but may be that I'm compelled to make this maneuver several times during the trip. It's  not a pleasure.
The stop position is not perfectly flat, but it makes an angle of not more that 5-10 degrees with the lower bordes of the chrome of the windshield .
I read about wipers in your tech manual and some posts ( with Novamonte fix) : so I ask if the matter is the adjustment of the nut under the dashboard or there are other things to do?

Thank you Hans . It's exactly the section I read , with that image.
My wipers don't slam down in the center.
But you think anyway that this is the way to fix the problem. Is it so?

    Done. Excellent.
Now I have to test during heavy duty, but I feel that it will be Ok because I see no longer the right arm to perform a strange torque as before.
Thank you again to Hans and all of you
