I found this in the heater blower today. What is it?
« on: January 27, 2015, 00:45:00 »
I was cleaning out the heater blower today and it had plenty of pine needles, leaves, dirt, etc., but I also found these two items in the blower as well.
Any idea of what they are and where they belong? Thanks.....

the thingy on the right looks like the lever that turns the heater core valve

I guess it must have fallen down and into the blower. They must have replaced it because there is a lever on the valve now. It looks like it rusted away in the last 40 years..... Thanks guys........

Since you say it's rusted, can you move the valve ? I just redo mine and the heather works nice again.
all info is here http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/HeaterControlValve
the right piece seems authentically , the left looks like a bad copy to me.

The piece on the right is the heater core valve stop. It fits under the on/off arm that is connected to the heater valve control lever in the cabin. Take a look at the wiki and it explains this fairly well. My friend and I just redid this on his heater core.

Thanks, I actually had a stop on the valve but didn't notice it until I pulled the valve out. I have sand blasted the stop and the arm on the valve and will put everything back together when the new o-ring arrives.... Then I will have heater core checked out and will be ready to re-install.....
