Horn Ring Rattle
« on: October 18, 2014, 05:31:49 »
The horn ring on my 280 sl rattles which can be quite annoying. As per  the Technical Manual this is an easy fix and I need to replace the A1154640035 Fixing sleeve. Unfortunately I cannot find this with the vendor in Germany. Any suggestion?

Hi,
are you sure with the spare part you mentioned because these are the fixing sleeves (3) of the horn pad?
I would assume that the springs of the horn mechanism is broken or bad.

My steering wheel on my 1963 Fintail "clunks" at certain angles.  I'm concerned because I adjusted the screws on the contact ring pictured and think I should not have.  I'm going to pull the steering wheel and try to figure out why it clunks.  In particular it clunks when I back down the driveway and have fine adjustments to steering to navigate down the driveway.   This is of course only after I replaced the shift bushings in the column manual transmission, which required removal of the steering bearing, so I'm suspicious that I replaced something in there wrong....
