Nice, except for the tragic flaw of occupants bang their heads on the rear window.  The Racaro seats are clearly missing headrests.

The design of this car has a very noble origin. Just check it out here:

Yes, it's been done before. El Benzo and Benzomino were styled by Paul Bracq and based upon the MB 600. Both were built by Karl Middlehauve, and both are for sale, I believe. They can be seen at www.mbgrand600.com if you dig down a bit.

I think that this kind of modification must be more acceptable in the US. In Europe that would be a huge "novelty"  :)
Nevertheless, nice case study

It's a huge novelty here too, Stan…which explains why both have been for sale for a long time with no takers. However, I'm sure that Karl wants primo top dollar for these.
Here in Detroit, all kinds of men (mostly men I guess) spend all kinds of money making all kinds of mods on cars. Many never finish, leaving garages full of dreams, and pockets empty. Projects unfulfilled are a dime a dozen in number and a good deal if they contain the parts you need. All you have to do is attend the Dream Cruise to get an inkling of what this is all about. It is a bit manic to say the least. You have no idea what is behind the garage doors in any given neighborhood here...

Michael

it sound as if it were an idea for tours for car enthusiasts... if only somebody were able to dig out what's hidden behind theses garage doors :)

Well, Stan--I don't think that the unfinished, languishing projects are something easy to ferret out. I just know they are there, because I've seen quite a few, some here in my own neighborhood. Now that being said, you might be interested in this:

Mike, truly a great book you found there, I will order 2 one for my library and one for my best friends 60s birthday I know he will love it (he has a dream garage of his own in Vancouver, BC. Having restored a 59 Cadillac, a 61 Corvette a early 60s Chevrolet and a few others).

Thanks for sharing you solved my hunt for a fitting gift.

Mikchael,

thanks for the info. By following Amazon's suggestions I noticed they also offer International Dream Garages book, which looks interesting too
