History of Mercedes "replacement" engine details.
« on: September 10, 2012, 18:34:47 »
I have limited history from my 1966 230 as the one lady owner from new didnt keep all the records of the car, and I can no longer contact her.  As she sold us the car 2 years ago she said " I dont suppose you want these 3 books of every recept and every bill and the service record - shall I bin it !- I threw away the very early stuff"!!!

One strange thing is the engine has been replaced at some time.  The V5 doc has another engine number.

On the exisiting engine it has a plate saying GENUINE MERCEDES UK REPLACEMENT ENGINE 12798122  11443.

Anyone know how I can find out details of where it came from and when it was fitted please?  This is the one bit missing from the history.
